Every one of us recognizes the need for better transportation infrastructure in Seattle. We took the first step towards this goal in 2011 when we joined together to soundly defeat a badly balanced transportation funding measure on November 8, 2011.
As we promised during the campaign, we started on November 9, 2011
the process of bringing to you a better package. The first part of 2012 has been busy working to get legislation passed in Olympia to address the regressive nature of the available funding mechanisms. We'll update you once we know how our legislation fares.
We are also starting work on creating a package reflecting your priorities. We communicated with thousands of voters leading up to the 2011 election. You were very clear what your priorities were. You want all spending in the package to focus on real infrastructure projects, not studies. You want tangible and visible improvements to roads, transit service, and pedestrian infrastructure.
You do not want millions spent on streetcar studies.
We are working hard to ensure your voice is heard this time.
